{"id":4166,"date":"2020-03-24T14:48:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T18:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=4166"},"modified":"2020-03-24T14:50:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T18:50:36","slug":"registry-of-motor-vehicles-transitions-to-appointment-only-reservation-system-suspension-hearing-by-phone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2020\/03\/24\/registry-of-motor-vehicles-transitions-to-appointment-only-reservation-system-suspension-hearing-by-phone\/","title":{"rendered":"Registry of Motor Vehicles Transitions To Appointment-Only Reservation System  &#038; Suspension Hearing By Phone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>BOSTON\u00a0&#8211; The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is announcing several additional measures being implemented to prioritize reducing customer volumes in physical locations and maintaining proper \u201csocial-distancing\u201d under Governor Charlie Baker\u2019s declaration of a State of Emergency the week of March 9\u00a0and to complement the work that has been underway for weeks across state government to keep residents safe and healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Appointment-Only Online Reservation System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective now, Tuesday, March 24, an appointment-only reservation system is being implemented for certain necessary and required in-person transactions at the RMV\u2019s eight open and operating Service Centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These essential transactions include certain Commercial Driving License (CDL) transactions and some new registrations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;52093&#8243;]<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Appointment reservation times will be available on a rolling basis up to two business days in advance on\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/RMV\" target=\"_blank\">www.Mass.Gov\/RMV<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/atlas-myrmv.massdot.state.ma.us\/myrmv\/_\/\" target=\"_blank\">myRMV Online Service Center<\/a>\u00a0under \u201cMake or Cancel a Reservation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers who make an appointment will be sent a confirmation email that they should be prepared to show on arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Milford and Wilmington RMV Service Centers will remain open to&nbsp;<em>exclusively<\/em>&nbsp;perform walk-in commercial transactions for CDLs and permits (CLPs), and CDL road tests continue to be administered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suspension Hearings and Reinstatement Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective Monday, March 23, the RMV implemented new protocols for suspension hearings. Applying for and initiating a suspension hearing to seek reinstatement will continue to require an in-person visit to an RMV Service Center, but the hearings are now being conducted by phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this time, customers will not be able to request a hearing under the appointment-only reservation system outlined above. Some suspended customers may already be able to complete the reinstatement process and payment online if all other outstanding requirements have been satisfied by visiting\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/RMV\" target=\"_blank\">www.Mass.Gov\/RMV<\/a>\u00a0and selecting \u201cPay my Reinstatement Fees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59982&#8243;]<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hearings are being conducted at Boston\/Haymarket, Brockton, Fall River, Lawrence, Springfield and Worcester. Hearings at the Pittsfield RMV occur weekly on Wednesdays and are scheduled to resume on March 25th. No hearings will be conducted in Plymouth. Chemical test refusal (CTR) hearings are only held at Boston\/Haymarket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers arriving at these locations to request a hearing will be provided tickets on a limited first-come, first-served basis, depending on the availability of Hearings Officers at that location that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Customers should bring copies of all necessary documents, depending on the type of suspension, to submit along with an application completed on-site. \u00a0\u00a0A Hearings Officer will call a customer directly to conduct their suspension hearing by phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>60-Day Extension of CDL Medical Certificates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDL Medical Certificates (Med Certs) that have expired or will expire after March 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0will have a 60-day extension applied to prevent license downgrades and elective medical visits, as well as alleviate demand on medical providers, during the State of Emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suspending Issuance of New REAL IDs and Non-Commercial Learner\u2019s Permit Knowledge Exams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 23, the federal government announced there will be a delay of the October 2020 REAL ID compliance deadline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective March 25\u00a0and until April 7, the RMV is also suspending the issuance of new REAL IDs and knowledge\/written exams for non-commercial learner\u2019s permits, both of which are currently required, but non-essential, in-person transactions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a reminder, all non-commercial Class D and M road tests for permit holders have already been suspended through April 6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"795\" height=\"487\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/spring.house_.ad_.source.2019.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2064\" srcset=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/spring.house_.ad_.source.2019.jpg 795w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/spring.house_.ad_.source.2019-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/spring.house_.ad_.source.2019-768x470.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Renewals for standard driver\u2019s license and ID credentials can be performed online at\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/RMV\" target=\"_blank\">www.Mass.Gov\/RMV<\/a>\u00a0along with more than 40 other transactions that can be conducted online, over the phone, or by mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For information about available services and additional steps the RMV has taken under the State of Emergency declaration, including the extension of expiring licenses \/ permits and vehicle inspection stickers, please visit:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/info-details\/rmv-covid-19-information\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/info-details\/rmv-covid-19-information<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of today, AAA locations continue to offer select RMV services to AAA members in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"467\" height=\"587\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/springdale.beer_.help_.march_.2020.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3801\" srcset=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/springdale.beer_.help_.march_.2020.png 467w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/springdale.beer_.help_.march_.2020-239x300.png 239w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BOSTON\u00a0&#8211;
