FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham 7th-8th grade combined youth lacrosse team will be in the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League Championship game on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After defeating Mansfield 11-3 on Tuesday night at King Elementary School, the Flyers advanced to the Massachusetts finals against Burlington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPDATED: The game will be plated at 8 p.m., under the lights, now at Burlington High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Getting deeper into the tournament we knew the competition and coaching of our opponent would be tougher. I feel that we’re responding better as we go deeper into the playoffs,” said head coach Dan Nguyen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We knew Mansfield had a great face off guy and unit,” said coach Nguyen. With Tyler Hamilton and Jack Taylor splitting faceoff duties we were able to adjust quickly against their faceoff. Our faceoff unit, led by our long-stick middie Paul Conway, did an amazing job stopping any fast breaks Mansfield tried to run.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Nguyen said “our offense had a balanced attack from our midfielders and attackmen. They did a great job moving the ball and making sure we were able to attack and score from different sides of the field and from multiple players. Cooper Masso, Tyler Hamilton, Jack Taylor, Alex Trierweiler, Smith Hampton, Jaivian Sharrow and Blake Brandolini all played a part in it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ryan Morin, Will Zigmont, Owen SuauAri Seletz, and Tommy Moretti provided fantastic midfield defense against Mansfield’s many offensive sets. Without our depth we wouldn’t have finished as strong as we did,” said coach Nguyen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our defensive unit including Jonah Sisitsky, Adam Dorsey and Mason Patriarca knew Mansfield had some big shooters on the wing and were able to contain them and made it extremely difficult for them to get shots off,” said Coach Nguyen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Goalie Keegan Masso played a big part in our win. He made 12 saves and had a shutout in the 1st half,” said the head coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our clears were very important in this game against Mansfield’s aggressive ride,” said Nguyen. “Our goalie and defensive players did an excellent job transitioning the ball to our offensive players. One of our goals by our defenseman Adam Dorsey resulted from us being smart on our clears.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m extremely proud of the boys and our goal from day one was getting to the championship game,” said Coach Nguyen. “The majority of this team is 8th graders and the championship game will be the last time they’ll all play together as one. Many of them will be going to different high schools next year, but the brotherhood of this team is strong and they will be difficult to beat.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
