FRAMINGHAM \u2013 The City of Framingham announced 8 individuals in the community have tested positive for COVID-19 cases since Wednesday, June 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the pandemic, there have been 246 deaths, as the City announced a new death today, June 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active cases in the City of Framingham decreased significantly since Monday, May 24 from 1,511 to 440 today, June 4, after SOURCE questioned the City’s numbers last week.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is a 1,071 drop from active cases in less than 2 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health defines an active case as a positive case, confirmed by a test, within the last 21 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s release by the City of Framingham on COVID numbers notes ” The City\u2019s COVID team is working in the State\u2019s data system to move lapsed or pending cases into the correct status.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individuals the City of Framingham is following in quarantine dropped from 531 to 503.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham has had a total of 8,332coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Framingham has about 74,500 residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means more than 11% of the City has been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new updated numbers released today, the City of Framingham is now reporting 7,646 individuals have recovered<\/a><\/strong> from the coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DePalo told SOURCE \u201ccases are moved into a Recovered status when the individual has completed isolation and is not experiencing any COVID symptoms (including fever without a fever-reducing medication).  Isolation is a minimum of 10 days however it can be longer if symptoms persist or if the individual becomes severely ill.  It is a case by case determination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of April 19, the general public, age 16 and older became eligible for the vaccine.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FDA & the CDC approved Pfizer’s vaccine for individuals age 12 and older last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is hosting a free COVID-19 testing site, run by Project Beacon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site is located at 123 Maple Street in a parking lot owned by Framingham State University.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
