{"id":37262,"date":"2021-05-14T12:01:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T16:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=37262"},"modified":"2021-05-14T12:02:51","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T16:02:51","slug":"virtual-public-meeting-on-re-design-of-edgell-road-central-street-intersection-on-may-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2021\/05\/14\/virtual-public-meeting-on-re-design-of-edgell-road-central-street-intersection-on-may-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Public Meeting On Re-Design of Edgell Road &#038; Central Street Intersection on May 27"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59982&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FRAMINGHAM, MA &#8211; The City of Framingham Department of Public Works will host a virtual public meeting via Zoom on Thursday, May 27, at 6 p.m. to discuss the 75% design plans for the proposed intersection reconstruction of Edgell Road and Central Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/08\/traffic-signal-planned-for-edgell-road-central-street-intersection\/\">A traffic light is planned for the intersection. <\/a><\/strong>A rotary or roundabout was considered for the intersection, but ultimately a decision was made for a traffic light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOnce the signal is installed, and the associated geometric improvements are constructed, the intersection should enhance vehicular traffic flow and provide much needed safety and accessibility improvements for all users (vehicle\/pedestrian\/bicyclist),\u201d said Framingham Department of Public Works Senior Communications Project Manager Allyssa Jewell, to SOURCE earlier this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023, and completion should be sometime in 2024,\u201d said Jewell, earlier this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, in November 2019, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.framinghamma.gov\/DocumentCenter\/View\/42116\/DPH_Transcript_Framingham_12-5-19_Draft\">Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) held a 25% design public hearing at the Village Hall. <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MassDOT will manage the project as it is funded by the State Transportation Improvement Program, said the City in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City staff and the design consultant will present current design project plans including, geometric improvements, the installation of a traffic signal, and improved pedestrian mobility and safety features, said the City in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.framinghamma.gov\/DocumentCenter\/View\/42117\/608889_75-Design-Plans\">View the current 75% design plans<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The public will have the opportunity to learn about the design plans and ask questions or make comments orally.
