FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University softball team received a pair of shutout pitching performances from Ally Moran and Shannon Ward as the Rams closed out the regular season defeating Worcester State by scores of 8-0 in six innings and 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field in Framingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham State University closes the regular season with a record of 28-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rams are back in action next Friday when the host Bridgewater State on Friday at 12 and 2 p.m. in game one and two of the best of three MASCAC Championship Series.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game 1 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the opener, the Rams grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double off the bat of Gwendolyn Carpenter and an RBI triple from Camille Desrochers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rams had runners on the corners in the bottom of the third when Desrochers scored from third on a wild pitch for the 3-0 lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rams added two more in the fourth on an RBI double to deep center from Kelsey McGuill and Carpenter\u2019s second RBI single of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rams closed the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a three run bomb to left off the bat of Caitlin McCarthy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ally Moran tossed a complete game one hitter for the Rams to earn her 12th<\/sup>\u00a0victory of the season in the circle. Moran struck out four and walked to in the shutout.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily Bartlett took the loss for the Lancers going four innings allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game 2<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In game two, the Rams plated four runs in the bottom of the second inning.\u00a0\u00a0Laela Pepin drove in the first with a single to center and Shannon Ward followed with an RBI single to left.\u00a0\u00a0Zoe Smyth plated the final two on a double down the left field line.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desrochers tied the FSU single season home run record when she led off the bottom of the third with a solo homer to left pushing the lead to 5-0.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ward earned the complete game shutout victory in the circle picking up her 13th<\/sup>\u00a0win of the season. Ward struck out six while walking none and allowing just two hits.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jen Thorburn took the loss for the Lancers going six innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits with three strikeouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
