{"id":3659,"date":"2020-03-18T15:01:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T19:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=3659"},"modified":"2020-03-18T16:14:42","modified_gmt":"2020-03-18T20:14:42","slug":"no-slowdown-on-fuller-middle-school-construction-due-coronavirus-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2020\/03\/18\/no-slowdown-on-fuller-middle-school-construction-due-coronavirus-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"No Slowdown on Fuller Middle School Construction Due Coronavirus Crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> <strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;51611&#8243;]<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FRAMINGHAM &#8211; The construction of a new Fuller Middle School is continuing, said School Building Committee Chair David Miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee met Monday night via a video conference call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miles said he asked Consigli Construction, the contractor for the new middle school on Flagg Drive, if there have been any effects due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Answer was, as of now, none,&#8221; said Miles on Tuesday, March 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;53230&#8243;]<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Work continues with no slowdown. Many of those not involved in actual construction (PMs, etc.) are working remotely,&#8221; said Miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consigli will accommodate workers who become ill or have to be at home for family reasons (school kids at home, etc.), explained Miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So, no changes to plans or schedules for now,&#8221; said the School Building Committee chair on Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction is still outside at this time, and the construction crews are working to maintain social distances, <em>Source<\/em> was told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Fuller Middle School is expected to open in late August of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced on March 17, effective immediately, ordered the suspension of all construction work in the City of Boston, due to concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The Boston Mayor said there are tens of thousands of construction projects going on in the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State-wide there has been no ban on construction, at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"654\" height=\"514\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/source.internship.ad_.blue_.camera.2019.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38\" srcset=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/source.internship.ad_.blue_.camera.2019.jpg 654w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/source.internship.ad_.blue_.camera.2019-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 654px) 100vw, 654px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Fuller Middle School project<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> On&nbsp;Tuesday,&nbsp;December 11, 2018&nbsp;voters approved a debt exclusion override to fund the new middle school on Flagg Drive. It will house students in grades 6-7-8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Taxpayers will pay $58.8 over a 20-year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state will provide $39.5 million toward the project<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction began in June 2019.
