{"id":35573,"date":"2021-04-27T17:31:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T21:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=35573"},"modified":"2021-04-27T17:38:47","modified_gmt":"2021-04-27T21:38:47","slug":"mass-ag-secures-89000-for-students-from-online-coding-bootcamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2021\/04\/27\/mass-ag-secures-89000-for-students-from-online-coding-bootcamp\/","title":{"rendered":"Mass AG Secures $89,000 For Students From Online Coding Bootcamp"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The following is a press release from the Massachusetts Attorney General&#8217;s office submitted to SOURCE media<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;70107&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BOSTON\u00a0\u2014 Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey has secured $89,000 in payments to students from an online for-profit school offering coding bootcamps to resolve allegations that the school used high pressure enrollment tactics and failed to provide proper disclosures about the program, in violation of the AG\u2019s For-Profit School Regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/doc\/flatiron-aod\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assurance of Discontinuance<\/a>, filed on Monday in Suffolk Superior Court against Flatiron School LLC (\u201cFlatiron\u201d), alleges that between March 2016 and February 2020, Flatiron violated the state\u2019s for-profit and occupational school regulations designed to curb deceptive and unfair practices and increase protections for prospective students. Under the terms of the settlement, Flatiron will pay $89,000, which will provide relief to students harmed by the school\u2019s alleged illegal practices.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u201cWe have strong regulations in place to protect students from abusive and deceptive practices by for-profit schools,\u201d said Healey. \u201cStudents looking to make informed decisions about their education should not be met with high pressure enrollment tactics and inadequate information about programs.
