FRAMINGHAM \u2013 The City of Framingham announced today, 33 new COVID-19 cases since Wednesday, April 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There have been more than 450 new cases in the month of April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the pandemic, there have been 243 deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 1, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts moved the City of Framingham back into the red, designating the community as a high-risk for the spread of the coronavirus.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham was downgraded to a yellow<\/a><\/strong> or moderate risk community last Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham has had a total of 8,068 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Framingham has about 74,500 residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means more 10.5% of the City has been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began a year ago this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good news is 6,281 individuals have recovered<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 19, the general public, age 16 and older became eligible for the vaccine.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active cases in the City of Framingham increased from 1,526 to 1,544.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individuals in quarantine is lower at 692.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week is school vacation week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City’s Interim Health Director Alex DePalo said earlier this month that the Project Beacon free COVID testing site on Franklin Street will be closing on April 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City’s spokesperson Chief Information Officer Kelly McFalls said today, April 23 the “We are in discussion for a new location. When it is final, we will announce.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham State University told SOURCE that it has signed a contract and that the Project Beacon site will open in May at the University’s Maple Street parking lot<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
