It also will not impact the decision by Massachusetts Education Commissioner to require all elementary school students in grades K-5 to be in-person learning 5 days a week starting Monday, April 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state has 55 communities as high risk or red communities this week. Last week, it was 32.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Framingham has reported more than 150 new COVID cases since last Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the state, the City of Framingham is averaging 39.9 cases per day per 100,000 people over the last two weeks. That number is up from 31.7 cases per day, last week. The City of Framingham was averaging 27.6 new cases per day to start the month of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Framingham had been a yellow community since mid-February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commonwealth says cases in the 0-18 and 18-29 age categories are driving the change from yellow to red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2021\/04\/01\/framingham-public-schools-reports-3-new-covid-cases-district-had-59-cases-in-month-of-march\/\">March, there were 59 cases of COVID within the Framingham Public Schools.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City&#8217;s rate of positivity is 4.03%. It was 3.29% last week and 3.03% to start the month of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state\u2019s overall positivity rate was 2.49 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59947&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-10cee374-0dd8-4444-a592-1d03457c542b\">As March ended, the City of Framingham has had a total of 7,599 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-10cee374-0dd8-4444-a592-1d03457c542b\">Framingham has about 74,000 residents. That means more 10% of the City has been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began a year ago this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-935ded49-b343-430d-b674-7b64a09f82c8\">Active cases in the City of Framingham was about 1,500, with about 640 in quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59946&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-935ded49-b343-430d-b674-7b64a09f82c8\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59982&#8243;] FRAMINGHAM &#8211; The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has moved the City of Framingham back into the red category for COVID cases, as of today, April 1.
