FRAMINGHAM – Helen M. Travis, 93, of Sandwich, passed away on March 17, 2021, after a brief period of declining health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helen was born in Natick to Mabel and Leonard Dunham. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helen grew up in Cochituate and graduated from Wayland High School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Travis Jr. and her son, Howard Travis III and her sister, Lilla Ann Hayden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is survived by her children, Deborah Connaughton and the Late Richard Connaughton of Ashland; Linda Spielmann and her husband Mark of Sandwich, with whom she resided; George of Erie, PA, and Gerald and his wife Luann of Falmouth. Helen is also
survived by her loving brother Lenny and her sister-in-law Grace of Tucson, AZ. Eight Grandchildren; Michelle Pierce-McCarthy, Christopher Travis, Howard Travis IV, Laura Shaw, Michael Connaughton, Kaitlyn Travis, Aimee Travis and Jared Travis. \u00a0Four great grandchildren; Kaylee Pierce, Emily McCarthy, Payton Shaw and Matthew Connaughton as well as several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helen raised her family in Framingham and worked many years for the Framingham School Lunch Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She spent many summers camping at Bourne Scenic Park and made lifelong friends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon retirement she and her husband settled in Bourne, Helen loved to attend her grandchildren\u2019s sporting events and was an avid Celtics and Bruins fan. She traveled yearly to Arizona to spend time with her brother and his extended family. She was always up for taking a trip to the casino. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helen was a strong woman who was there to help any family member or friend. Her love and support, for all who knew her, will be sorely missed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A celebration of Helen\u2019s life will take place later this Summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
