AMHERST – The Commonwealth’s largest university is prohibiting visitors on campus and announced a “high risk” for COVID-19 today, February 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement, which came this afternoon, comes after 239 students tested positive for COVID since the month began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high risk will stay in effective for 14 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All athletics has been halted for 2 weeks, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, UMass Amherst banned all student gatherings. The University also banned in-person dinning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between Feb 1-3, test results had 239 new positive cases of the virus on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students were remote for fall semester, but on campus for this spring semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
