FRAMINGHAM – First responders in Framingham received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Nevins Hall at the Memorial Building today, January 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the Fire Department, the Police Department, and employees of the Brewster ambulance staff received their first Moderna COVID-10 vaccine shot. Members of the Framingham State University Police and MassBay Community College police were also eligible for the vaccine at the clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moderna vaccine is two shots – 28 days apart. The Moderna vaccine goes into the muscle cells of the arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinical trials showed Moderna’s vaccine was 94% effective in preventing symptomatic infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moderna thinks its vaccine will protect against the coronavirus for at least a year<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First responders are part of Phase 1 of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts vaccine plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First responders were eligible for the vaccine starting this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Yvonne Spicer was at Nevins Hall today but did not receive a shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
