In fact, this year calls for more pie!\u201d said David B. Waters,\u00a0CEO of Community Servings. \u201c \u2018More pie\u2019 means helping us make more nourishing meals that improve the health and well-being of thousands of individuals who we serve with deliveries from our Jamaica Plain kitchen. We appreciate everyone\u2019s support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59945&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coronavirus pandemic prompted Community Servings to reimagine&nbsp;<em>Pie in the Sky<\/em>&nbsp;to ensure staff, partners, and volunteers&#8217; health and safety. The organization streamlined the baking and boxing process, created a touchless distribution plan, and provided a much-needed reprieve to longtime restaurant partners and bakers who, for many years, have generously donated their culinary skills to the cause but are now challenged by COVID-19 themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, Community Servings raised more than $850,000 by selling more than 25,000 pies prepared by an army of chefs, bakers, caterers, restaurant staff, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> For 2020, pies will be scratch-made in Community Servings\u2019 kitchen and by Boston Baking Inc., a family-run gourmet bakery in Hyde Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;58610&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who make a $30 donation at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pieinthesky.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.pieinthesky.org<\/a>&nbsp;will receive their choice of a fresh-baked apple or pecan pie, while supplies last, to serve at Thanksgiving. Each $30 donation covers a week\u2019s worth of healthy meals for one of Community Servings\u2019 clients living with an illness such as HIV\/AIDS, cancer, heart disease or diabetes. Donors will pick up their boxed and sealed pies on Nov. 24 at a designated, outdoor pick-up site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whole\u00a0Foods\u00a0Market has supported Community Servings since 1996, helping the organization provide 95,000 medically tailored meals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From November 18 to November 26,\u00a0Whole\u00a0Foods\u00a0Market will be selling specially baked apple and pumpkin\u00a0<em>Pie in the Sky<\/em>\u00a0pies in all of their Massachusetts locations and donating $5 from each sale to Community Servings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each $5 donation will provide a day\u2019s worth of nourishing meals to neighbors in need during this holiday season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59948&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe strong partnership with Community Servings has allowed us to assist in providing nutritious&nbsp;food&nbsp;to our neighbors across Massachusetts who are struggling with chronic illness,\u201d said Jean-Philippe Scioville, Senior In-Store &amp; Local Marketing Specialist at&nbsp;Whole&nbsp;Foods&nbsp;Market. \u201cWe are proud to sponsor the 28<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;annual&nbsp;<em>Pie in the Sky<\/em>&nbsp;and support Community Servings through our in-store pie purchases, reinforcing our commitment and core value to care for our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other<em>&nbsp;Pie in the Sky<\/em>&nbsp;supporters include&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coldwellbankerhomes.com\/new-england\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coldwell Banker Cares<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitas.com\/en-us\/offices\/boston\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digitas<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scrubadub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;ScrubaDub Auto Wash Centers<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sierranevada.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ScrubaDub, New England\u2019s leading car wash company, will once again be giving away\u00a0complimentary car washes (redeemable via email; valid after Thanksgiving) to donors who support the\u00a0<em>Pie in the Sky<\/em>\u00a0campaign with a \u201cPie for a Client\u201d donation.\u00a0Over the past seven years, the Paisner family-owned car wash company has contributed over $180,000 to Community Servings, providing many thousands of meals for their clients and caretakers.
