Evangelidis to the seven-member Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Board of Directors.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheriff Evangelidis was\u00a0initially appointed to the Massport board in 2015\u00a0and is being re-appointed to serve a new seven-year term. Sheriff Evangelidis currently serves as the Chair of the Massport board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSheriff Evangelidis has a strong record as a leader in the public safety field and has been a strong addition to the Massport board as a member and its chair,\u201d\u00a0said Governor Charlie Baker.\u00a0\u201cI am pleased to appoint him to serve a new term on the board and look forward to his continued contributions as the agency navigates continued challenges related to COVID-19 and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59982&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMassport continues to benefit from the leadership of its dedicated board and executive staff, and we thank Sheriff Evangelidis for serving another term as part of that team,\u201d\u00a0said Lt. Governor Karyn Polito.\u00a0\u201cWe have appreciated Sheriff Evangelidis bringing his perspective to the board over the past five years and look forward to his continued contributions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Since 2015, it has been a great privilege to serve on the Massport Board,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Worcester County Sheriff &amp; Massport Chair Evangelidis.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cI have enjoyed working closely with the Massport team and our fellow board members during the course of our rapid growth and now during the challenges presented by COVID-19.\u00a0I appreciate Governor Baker\u00a0reappointing\u00a0me to serve a new term and I look forward to my continued responsibilities as its Chairman.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"505\" height=\"627\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/130000.source.facebook.july_.NEW_.2020.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14065\" srcset=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/130000.source.facebook.july_.NEW_.2020.png 505w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/130000.source.facebook.july_.NEW_.2020-242x300.png 242w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are fortunate to have a dedicated public servant like Sheriff Evangelidis as Chairman of our Board,\u201d\u00a0said Massport CEO Lisa Wieland<strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cHis leadership has guided Massport through periods of rapid growth and unprecedented crises, and will serve the Authority well as we plan for and manage the new normal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evangelidis received a bachelor\u2019s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1983 and received his Juris Doctorate from the Temple University School of Law in 1987.\u00a0Prior to elected service in Massachusetts, Evangelidis served as an Assistant State Prosecutor in Miami-Dade County, Florida, was an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County and worked at the law firm of Pellegrini and Seeley from 2000 through 2010. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evangelidis was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2002 and served the 1st District of Worcester for eight years. He was elected Sheriff of Worcester County and has served since January of 2011. He has served on the Massport board since 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;70106&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;70107&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Massport is governed by a\u00a07-member Board. Five members are appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts and one is appointed by the Massachusetts Port Authority Community Advisory Committee to staggered terms of seven years each. The Secretary of Transportation and Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation serves as an ex officio member of the Board.
