FRAMINGHAM – Massachusetts\u2019s average gas price is up four cents from last week\u00a0($2.06)<\/em>, averaging\u00a0$2.10\u00a0per gallon, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s price is 10 cents cheaper than a month ago\u00a0($2.00)<\/em>\u00a0and 63 cents cheaper than July 6, 2019 ($2.73)<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Massachusetts\u2019s average gas price is 8 cents lower than the national average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A slight drop in demand amid an increase in supplies comes as many states report increases in COVID-19 cases, potentially causing Americans to reconsider outings. However, for motorists who hit the road for the Independence Day holiday, gas prices were a welcome sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIndependence Day weekend gas prices were nearly 60 cents cheaper than last year and on top of that, they were the most inexpensive prices seen for the holiday since 2004,\u201d said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director, Public and Legislative Affairs, in a press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AAA Northeast\u2019s July 6 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be\u00a0$2.18, up a penny from last week\u00a0($2.17)<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s national average price is 17 cents cheaper than a month ago ($2.01)<\/em>, and 57 cents cheaper than this day last year\u00a0($2.75)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
