FRAMINGHAM – The 5-member Framingham License Commission Monday night unanimously approved new outdoor dining for a Route 9 restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebel Restaurants was approved for 162 seats outdoor for Temazcal Tequila Cantina at 155 Worcester Road in Framingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant will place about 57, 2 and 4-person tables in its parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restaurants had been closed since mid-March, and under the Governor\u2019s order could only do take out or curbside, until Phase II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting yesterday, June 8, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was allowing outdoor dining, under Phase II. Restaurants that already had outdoor dining in 2019, could begin service on June 8. Those who were adding seating needed local approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Framingham License Commission reviewed the applications of about 10 establishments Monday night and approved all but one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional manager Michael Bainton said the outdoor seating would be located on both sides of the restaurant and small space in front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the tables would be “staggered in parking space” to keep with the guidelines of 6 feet apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We don’t have the actual tables right now, but pretty confident can get all those tables,” he told the Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bainton also said the restaurant will begetting galvanized steel barriers to block off the outdoor dining areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said none of the resaturant’s handicapped parking spaces will be used for dining and none of the ramps into the restaurant will be blocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bainton said the resataurant wants to add umbrellas, but currently they are “scarce.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will see what we can get our hand on,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outdoor dining was approved daily from noon to 9 p.m., through November 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bainton said the last guests would be seated at 8 p.m., with last call at 8;30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 162 seats is less than the inside capacity of the restaurant, which must still remain closed at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food will be taken directly from the kitchen out a door to to the outdoor dining, and the servers will wear masks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state had specific guidelines for restaurants under the Phase II re-opening plan.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The establishment does not plan to erect a tent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outdoor dining can open once the City’s inspectional services and health departments give their approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
