FRAMINGHAM \u2013 Mayor Charlie Sisitsky and the City of Framingham is now accepting applications for its Hometown Heroes Banner program to recognize military personnel with ties to the City of Framingham.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a wonderful way for the City to recognize the brave men and women who have served in the military,\u201d said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. \u201cThis program will pay tribute to Veterans who have selflessly dedicated themselves to our nation, while also serving as a symbol of our gratitude and respect for their courage and devotion to our country, highlighting their steadfast commitment to safeguarding our freedoms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur hope is that the community embraces this opportunity to honor their local heroes, fostering a deeper connection between the residents and the Veterans who have played pivotal roles in shaping the nation’s history,\u201d said Framingham Veterans Chair Robert Downing. \u201cWe encourage families and friends of veterans to submit applications and participate in this meaningful initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hometown Heroes Banner program not only serves as a public acknowledgment but also as an educational tool, reminding the younger generations of the sacrifices made by those who have served.<\/p>\n

The banners will be displayed prominently throughout the City, ensuring that these stories of valor and dedication are visible to all.<\/p>\n

Each banner will have a photo of a man or woman who served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, or Navy, along with their name, military branch and their rank.<\/p>\n

The program will be managed by the Framingham Veterans Council, the Framingham Veterans Department and members of the municipal government.<\/p>\n

The City of Framingham is now accepting applications for the second year of the program.<\/p>\n

Last year about 30 Veterans were honored in the inaugural launch.<\/p>\n
