Leonard J. Main of Hopkinton, MA passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at his home, after a\u00a0brief illness, with his family by his side. He was born in Brighton on May 12, 1938, to Leonard F.\u00a0and Catherine G. (Sherman) Main. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1956.<\/h3>\n

Besides his wife of 58 years, Pamela (Magee) Main, he leaves his son Robert J. Main of Hopkinton, Teri Main,\u00a0and her partner Dan Matos of Hudson, two granddaughters Kathryn Main of Worcester, Rebecca Main of\u00a0Framingham; his brother, John W. Main, and sister Ann (Main) Desjardins, both of Lowell\u00a0and many cousins and close friends. His sister Mary Diane (Main) Hatch and her\u00a0husband, Tom, predeceased him.<\/h3>\n

He worked as a Civilian employee for the U.S. Army Natick Laboratories for 27 years and then\u00a010 years for Mitre Corp. at Hanscom AFB, as a Logistician on government contracts, retiring in 1993.\u00a0For 32 years, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired as a Sgt. Major. He only wished his\u00a0dad had lived long enough to have seen him receive this promotion. After retiring, he worked as the Bar Manager at\u00a0the Woodville Rod and Gun Club, of which he was a member for many years. He enjoyed\u00a0fishing and hunting with his son, Bob. He supported the kids\u2019 fishing derby each year and\u00a0encouraged his granddaughters to participate.\u00a0 Following in their dad\u2019s and \u201cgrampy\u2019s\u201d\u00a0footsteps, they managed to win trophies for the largest fish many times. He worked at TJ\u2019s Restaurant for over 20 years and\u00a0continued to keep busy by doing some part-time deliveries for Sunnyside Gardens during\u00a0the afternoon. He loved seeing the joy on the recipients\u2019 faces when he presented them with their beautiful flowers.<\/h3>\n

He was a 50-year member of Masons having served as Master of Middlesex Lodge in\u00a0Framingham, and affiliated with John Warren Lodge in Hopkinton, serving as Master two\u00a0years, as well as their treasurer and in other capacities. He was a former member of the Milford Commandery.\u00a0He was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Past Patron, and was\u00a0currently an officer in Myrtle Chapter No. 33, O.E.S. in Holliston along with his wife. They\u00a0enjoyed their 50-plus years of membership traveling together around the state making\u00a0many friends along the way and working on\u00a0charitable projects. He, along with his wife, supported the local Hopkinton Rainbow Assembly by serving on its\u00a0Advisory Board for many years. He always said that youth groups need our support and he\u00a0never lacked in this area.\u00a0 Because of that example, he demonstrated, he had bestowed\u00a0upon him the Grand Cross of Color for this outstanding service; the highest honor given by\u00a0Rainbow. He was very proud of it.<\/h3>\n

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 16th at 11A.M. at St. Paul\u2019s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood St., Hopkinton. Internment at the Evergreen Cemetery 306 Wood St., Woodville, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Chapter of MA, O.E.S. P.O. Box 600583, Newtonville, MA\u00a0 02460 and in Memo section: \u201cSeafarers Scholarship Fund\u201d or to the \u201cRAINBOW CAMP\u201d, c\/o Mrs. Nancy Whalen, 20 Rainbow Cir., Middleboro, MA 02346<\/h3>\n
