Born to Cleveland and Lydia Jones (Carter) on July 10, 1954, in Anchorage, Alaska, Karen was the third oldest of their four children: her brother, Lonnie Jones (R.I.P); her sister, Cynthia Dargin; and her youngest brother, Gerald Jones, were all adored by Karen, and that was reciprocated by them.<\/p>\n
Karen graduated from Framingham South High School where she began to develop a love for writing poetry. She cultivated this talent over most of her life, though this is not widely known because she only shared this fact with particular people and did not allow anyone to read them until finally agreeing to let her granddaughter, who is also a writer, access them after her passing. Karen used writing poetry as a form of therapy that, for her, was second only to prayer.<\/p>\n
As a devout Christian and dedicated member of the Greater Framingham Community Church, she donated time and resources to the place where she loved to worship God and also to the people she worshipped with. Combining her love for Christ with her love of traveling eventually led her to take her philanthropy and faith global. After traveling to Jerusalem for the first time, she was inspired to donate monthly to dozens of Christian organizations worldwide, including one that allowed her to directly fund the building of churches through<\/p>\n
out Africa.<\/p>\n
As a longtime resident of the Framingham area, Karen formed deep ties with her community, most notably during her 20-year tenure at Lifeline where she was affectionately referred to as \u201cMs. Jones\u201d, even by her bosses. During her time there she formed some of her deepest friendships and kept many of her colleagues as close as her own family.<\/p>\n
As a fiercely loving mother she is survived\u00a0by her dedicated and faithful children Lukishia Jones and Stefan Jones; her grandchildren of whom she was immensely proud, Daekwon Jones, Skye Jones, Keyara Jones, and Demetris Burton, Jr.; her beloved great-grandchildren, Aliyah Jones, Anastasia Jones, and Armani Jones; her mother, Lydia Jones; her sister, Cynthia Dargin (Jack); and her dear brother, Gerald Jones (Diane); as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, all whom she loved until her last breath.<\/p>\n
Services will be held at Greater Framingham Community Church, 44 Franklin St, Framingham on Saturday, May 20, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will precede the service beginning at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge of Natick, MA, at 12:45PM.<\/p>\n
