FRAMINGHAM – On Friday, the same group of Framingham High alumni led by Kelvin Rivera<\/a><\/strong> who protested on Thursday for 12 hours, gathered more support for their protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scores of young adults marched 9 miles to bring awareness about the death of George Floyd, while in custody of Minneapolis Police Officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, while handcuffed George Floyd, a black man, died in police custody in Minneappolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A white police officer Derek Chauvin pushed his knee into Floyd\u2019s neck, as he cried that he could not breathe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, Chauvin and three other police officers were fired, after a bystander\u2019s video showed the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ironically, Minneapolis City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins said George Floyd and fired police officer Chauvin knew each other for many years because they worked security at the same night club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FBI is now investigating the death, and on Friday arrested Chauvin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young adults marched 9 miles from Target on Route 30, down Route 126 to the Memorial Building,down Route 135 into Natick, down Speen Street, and back to target over a 3-4 hour period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Memorial Building, the young adults knelt in silence for 9 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We did this to honor George Floyd and the 9 minutes he struggled to breathe while in police custody,” said organizer Kelvin Rivera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During part of the protest outside the Memorial Building, Mayor Yvonne Spicer came out and stood at the top of the steps and watched the teen as they were all kneeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 9-mile march, “People from many different generations joined us today and this reminds us that we are not alone,” said Rivera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We must continue to peacefully fight to make a change,” said Rivera on social media. “Our justice system must be reformed to protect all of us equally.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
