Josephine H. Waters, 92, a longtime resident of Framingham and formerly Newton, died Sunday, April 5, 2026 after a period of declining health. Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late Patrick & Ellen (Stenson) Staunton, and the beloved wife of the late David T. Waters.

Josephine was raised and educated in Newton, and later she and David settled in Framingham. A true home maker, Josephine enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and walking miles each day. She was guided by her Catholic faith.

Josephine is survived by her brother, Redmond T. Staunton & his wife Gail, her niece, Darryl Ann McCarthy, nephew, Redmond T. Staunton, Jr. all of Peabody, and her niece, Carol Lehr and her family of Newton Centre, MA.

Family and friends will honor and remember Josephine’s life by gathering for her graveside services on Saturday morning, April 11th in Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton, at 11:30AM.
