Edwin David Bennett, 69, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 12, 1956, Edwin lived a full and vibrant life defined by his passion for cars, his devotion to family, and the friendships he cherished deeply.
Edwin was a master mechanic by trade and a true car enthusiast at heart. He took immense pride in his work and was known for his skill, dedication, and willingness to help others. His greatest joy was his 1964 Chevy pickup truck, which he raced at New England Dragway. The truck was more than just a vehicle—it was a reflection of his passion, hard work, and love for the sport. As a proud member of the NHRA, Edwin spent countless hours doing what he loved most: racing, building, and sharing his enthusiasm with others.
Outside of the garage and track, Edwin enjoyed boating, attending car shows, and spending time with his close-knit group of friends. He was known for his warm, outgoing personality and had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome and valued. Whether he was sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying a good laugh, Edwin left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife, Danielle Bennett; his children, Christopher Bennett ( his fiancé, Megan Drew), David Bennett, and Jennifer Thibodeau; and his cherished grandchildren, Edwin Bennett, Nolan Bennett, Braxton Drew, Caitlyn Bennett, and Charlotte Miers. He was predeceased by his son, Joshua Bennett.
He is also survived by his sister, Madeline Wright (her husband, Eddie Cowland). He was predeceased by his sister, Sadie Lemay and her husband, Richard Lemay II, and his brother, Rex Bennett.
Edwin’s family also includes his many nieces and nephews: Adriene Turner her husband, Edward Turner), Dierdre Kenney, Missy Roberts (her husband, Tom Roberts), Christine O’Neill, Michael Savasta, Ian Lemay, Linda Rutledge, Richard Lemay III, and the late Bill Bernier and his wife, Deena Bernier, as well as Barsha MacDonald and her husband, Bill MacDonald.
Edwin’s life was enriched by the strong friendships he held dear, including Dan & Nancy Nelson, Kevin & Cathy Pasionek, and Jack & Jill Pridham, who stood by him through the years.
He was a graduate of King Philip High School, where he began building the foundation for the hardworking and determined man he became.
Edwin will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy lives on through the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Edwin’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. Framingham on Thursday, April 9th from 4-7PM. Interment will take place in Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove St. Framingham on Friday morning at 11 o’clock, followed by a Celebration of Life at: Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club, 88 Fiske Mill Road, Upton Ma 01568 from 12-4PM.
