For more than two decades, Mike Cox, a 38-year employee at MetroWest Medical Center, has been making St. Patrick’s Day fun for his coworkers.

Every year, he comes to work in costume.  Mike says it all started with a now-retired maternity nurse who dressed up for every holiday.  One March, she jokingly gave Mike a costume to wear, and he kept it on for his entire shift, sparking what would become an annual tradition.  She supplied him with outfits over the years, and he now has a full collection of festive costumes.  While he used to grow out a beard just for the occasion, it has been a permanent part of his leprechaun look for the past five years.

“Every year she would have something new for me to wear. I didn’t know until that day what it was,” Mike said. “It’s great for morale and people look forward to it every year.”

Even in shipping and receiving, where much of the hard work happens behind the scenes, Mike is committed to bringing smiles, lifting spirits, and spreading a little St. Patrick’s Day magic to everyone around him.
