FRAMINGHAM, MA – March 9, 2026 – The MetroWest YMCA will hold its annual Marathon Community Breakfast this Friday, celebrating the life-changing impact of the MetroWest YMCA and honoring the legendary Bobbi Gibb on the 60th anniversary of her iconic trailblazing run as the first female to complete the Boston Marathon.

With the themes of overcoming adversity, inspiring others, and creating connected communities, this year’s Marathon Community Breakfast will take place Friday, March 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Renaissance Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.

Tickets for the Marathon Community Breakfast are now available for purchase at https://www.metrowestymca.org/events/marathon-community-breakfast

“The MetroWest YMCA’s Marathon Community Breakfast is a true celebration of the impact of the Y, kicking off our annual campaign and lifting up our marathon team,” said Rick MacPherson, President & CEO of the MetroWest YMCA. “This year also marks the 10th year of our Inspiration Award, which was first presented to Dick and Rick Hoyt, and recognizes the extraordinary achievement of amazing individuals who have impacted their communities and inspired others.”

In addition to Bobbi Gibb, the 2026 breakfast will also honor Team Hoyt Duo Andrew McAllister and Ross Ormond, who ran the Boston Marathon for Team Hoyt and have completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Continuing the mantra of Team Hoyt—“Yes You Can!”—the Breakfast will also provide an update on the future regional Team Hoyt Community YMCA. Located on 12.5 acres of land in Ashland along the Boston Marathon route, the Team Hoyt Community YMCA will be one of the most inclusive YMCAs in the country, serving Ashland, Hopkinton, Holliston, Sherborn, and Framingham, and will feature a state-of-the-art Wellness Center, full-day Early Learning Center, Aquatics, and much more.

The Marathon Community Breakfast also plays an important role in kicking off the MetroWest YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Funds raised through the Marathon Community Breakfast will support the organization’s efforts to combat food insecurity throughout the region; provide scholarship assistance for Early Education, Before/After School Care, and Summer Camp programs; and make possible health interventions such as LIVESTRONG at the YMCA for Cancer Survivors and the Parkinson’s Wellness Program.

“Supporting the MetroWest YMCA’s Annual Campaign is one of the most meaningful ways to care for our neighbors,” said MacPherson. “Together, we can be there when children and families need us most.”
