William L. Chignola Sr., a resident of Ashland and Formerly Framingham, passed away on February 19th, 2026, at the age of 94 years. He was the son of the late Aimee L and Joseph P. Chignola of Quincy MA and the brother of the late Carl Anthony Chignola. Bill was predeceased by his devoted wife of 70 years, Jean L (Ciardi) Chignola.
He is survived by his four children: William L. Jr., of Framingham, Lynne S. Rufo of Natick, Bruce W. and his wife Martha Ann of Papillion, NE and Mark W. and his wife Linda K. of Leominster. He is also survived by grandchildren Captain Joseph W., and his wife Michelle, Jude M., Christopher W., Nicole A., Jordan L., Jacquieline M. and two great-grandchildren, Ellie and B.
William lived an outstanding life as a father and husband, delighting in both his family and his community of Framingham for 60 years. He served as a Sargent in the United States Air Force and was awarded two combat stars during the Korean War.
Bill worked for Raytheon for 38 years. Post-retirement, he was a consummate artist and he served as a past president of the Framingham Art Guild. He and his wife will be remembered as active parishioners of St. George church for 60 years.
Bill was a masterful craftsman and wood smith, having designed and built the second floor on his ranch home. He had a passion for golf and continued enjoying the game well into his 80’s. He achieved every golfer’s dream when he made a hole-in-one on August 30th, 2016.
Bill was also very involved at The Residence at Valley Farm, where he resided for the past 7 years. He helped to create the Residents’ Advisory Board and was a beloved member of the community.
Bill will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham on Tuesday, February 24th from 4-7PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning in St. George Church, 74 School St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery. After the services, family and friends will be invited to gather together – location to be announced at the services.
