Aloysius (Al) Stachelek, 100, a resident of Framingham passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at his home. He was born in Clinton, Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph and Bernice (Parzych) Stachelek. Predeceased by his brother, Francis Stachelek and sister, Bernice Stachelek of Clinton, Massachusetts.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1943 and Worcester Jr. College, Class of 1949 with an Associate Degree in Business Management. He was employed at United States Army Natick Labs in Natick, Massachusetts as an Engineering Warehouse Manager for over 25 years. He was a cancer survivor for over 25 years.
Al was a World War II veteran within the United States Navy from 1943-1946, stationed at Argentia Newfoundland and was honorably discharged at the rank of Coxswain.
As like his father and brother, Al was an avid freshwater fisherman fishing at Wachusett, Ashland and Hopkinton Reservoirs as well as Lake Cochituate. He was the first recipient of the Massachusetts Sportfishing Award Program for catching the largest Brown Trout weighing in at 16 lbs 12 oz, 33 ½ inches long on 4 lb test line from Ashland Reservoir on November 22, 1963. Today it still stands as the 4th largest Brown Trout caught in Massachusetts. He would amaze his son and friends he’d take fishing on how many fish he could catch. Teaching them the importance of reading the shoreline and following up with the statement “Class Dismissed” with a chuckle after catching a fish.
Al enjoyed reading military story books and watching college basketball especially during March Madness, rooting for his favorite team, Duke.
Al is survived by his daughter and caretaker, Barbara Stachelek of Framingham Massachusetts, his son Paul Stachelek and his partner Karen Lynch of Shirley, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his dear wife Helen Stachelek.
