Salvatore “Sal” Marotta, 80, died suddenly on December 9th at his home in Ashland, MA. Born in East Boston, MA, he was the loving son of the late Gaspare “Henry” & Josephine “Angie” (Iannillo) Marotta. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlene (Pointer) Marotta, of Framingham, MA.
Sal had lived in East Boston, Revere, Methuen, Medford, Framingham, Brunswick, GA and finally moving back to Ashland, MA in 2023 to be closer to his family. Sal was a life-long salesman and business owner, working in appliance and automotive sales; culminating in him owning his own convenience store and used car lot.
In 2003, he and his wife semi-retired to Brunswick, Georgia where he enjoyed spending time on the golf courses, both working as a starter and as a golfer; playing many rounds of golf around the Golden Isles area. He volunteered as the President of the Bridgewater HOA in Brunswick for multiple terms.
He enjoyed reading, cooking, a good cigar and cheering on the New England Patriots. He loved training and spending time with the many dogs he had with his wife over the years; Cocoa, Prince, Crystal, Sam, Rocky and most recently Gabby. While living in the Boston area, he was always up for a trip to the North End for good food and time with friends. During his time living in the Methuen area, he enjoyed spending time at Cedardale playing racquetball, tennis and sitting by the pool cheering for his daughter’s swim meets.
Along with his wife Arlene, Sal is also survived by his daughter Nicole (Marotta) Rotatori and her husband Greg Rotatori of Framingham, MA, his sister Elizabeth (Marotta) Lyons of Revere, MA, his granddaughters; Heather (Rotatori) Kubler and her husband Ethan Kubler of Cumming, GA and Jill Rotatori of Grafton, MA and his nephew and niece, Chris Lyons of Revere, MA and Elyse (Lyons) DiMartino of Saugus, MA.
The family will honor and celebrate Sal’s life in private.
