MetroWest Medical Center capped off National Pharmacy Week with the presentation of two special awards recognizing outstanding service, dedication, and promise within its Pharmacy Department.
Each year, the weeklong celebration highlights the vital role pharmacists and technicians play in patient care and teamwork across the organization. The week wrapped up the presentation of the R.F. Rizzo RARE Award, named in honor of Robert Francis Rizzo, a pharmacist who served more than 12 years with the MetroWest Pharmacy Department, including five years in a supervisory role. Rizzo, who passed away in 2015, is remembered for his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to excellence.
This year’s Rizzo Award was presented to Daniel Morad, PharmD, recognizing his exceptional performance, professionalism, and dedication to patient care.
MetroWest also introduced a new honor this year — the Young Award — created in recognition of Anne Young, who has been a part of the MetroWest Pharmacy team for over 25 years. Anne’s service and legacy inspire the next generation of pharmacy caregivers. The award is given to a newer team member with less than two years of service who has demonstrated significant growth, potential, and positively impacted the Pharmacy department.
The first-ever Young Award was presented to Jack Martin, CPht, who in a short period of time has become a standout member of the Pharmacy team.
“Both Daniel and Jack exemplify the dedication, compassion, and teamwork that define our Pharmacy Department,” said Anthony Bellino, the hospital’s Director of Pharmacy. “We’re proud to recognize their contributions and celebrate our continued commitment to positive patient care outcomes.”
