Harold S. Chakiris, 82, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Monday, October 13, 2025 after a period of declining health.  Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Peter & Efkratia (Papadellis) Chakiris.

Harold was a 1961 graduate of Framingham High School and earned his associate’s degree in landscape operations at The Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts and also attended the University of Georgia. A landscape designer by trade, Harold was part owner of Pine Knoll Landscaping and later worked for K&S Landscaping. He loved his work and took that knowledge wherever he went. He’d often wander away to smoke a cigarette and scrutinize the landscaping to figure out how best to improve the grounds, and in doing so educate those around him about the trees and flowers that would be best for each season.

Harold was passionate about his dogs over the years, and his favorite breed by far was the dachshund. He took his dog everywhere possible and loved going to the park. He proudly embraced his Greek heritage and culture, especially the foods and passing those traditions on to his children. Playing golf with his son and close friends was one of his favorite pastimes. Harold was an avid sports fan. Most notably the Red Sox, Patriots, and his Georgia Bulldogs.

Harold is survived by his children, Kara Gray & her husband Christopher of Douglas, Peter & his wife Julia of Framingham, and Alyssa Acker of Rutland, his grandchildren, Mackenzie and Owen Gray, Jacory and Jameis Acker, and Ella, Gavin, and Drew Chakiris, his niece Maria Curran & her husband John, and their children, Alana, Michael and Paul of Belmont.

Besides his parents, Harold was predeceased by his sister, Martha Afentakis.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Harold’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street Framingham on Monday, October 20th from 10-12PM. His graveside services will be celebrated in Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove St. Framingham 12:30PM.
