George L. Yeager, 98, a lifelong resident of Saxonville, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late George and Mae (Drury) Yeager, and the beloved husband of Alma (Picconi-McDonald) Yeager and the late Rita (Gormley) Yeager.

George was a graduate of Framingham High School, Class of 1945. He served his country honorably during WWII in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant in the 2nd Calvary, 3rd Army in Europe from 1945 – 1947. He and Alma were fixtures at local senior centers when big bands were playing. Alma and George could also be found dancing at home to one of the many CDs that George created. George’s pastimes included working on home projects at his organized work bench, maintaining their beautiful home, and tending to his yard and flowers. George was very proud of his backyard and pool. Often times, you could find George and Alma quietly sitting side by side, holding hands, and enjoying the tranquility of their backyard.

A member of ‘The Greatest Generation’, George enjoyed sharing stories from his time in the army with his grandchildren. Together they looked through his detailed notebooks, filled with photos and stories. He spent many Veterans Days at local shopping centers, selling poppies for the VFW to raise money and awareness to support veterans and was the former Commander at his local VFW post.
