Dennis Gene Canali, age 83, passed away at home after a long battle with cancer on September 20, 2025.  Born in Framingham, he is the son of the late Geno S. Canali and the late Anne (Sambuchi) Canali.  Dennis attended Boston University as an undergraduate and Washington University, where he received his graduate degree in Clinical Psychology.

For over 50 years, Dennis practiced as a licensed Clinical Psychologist, during which time he worked to help many patients.  He began his career helping patients when he worked at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham.   Following that, his work as a clinician benefitted a large variety of patients over the years including children, geriatrics, and the mentally challenged.  Later in his career, he worked for the Community Services Institute prior to opening his own business, in which he was a co-owner of the Independent Association of Psychologists.  He worked as a clinical practitioner to benefit his patients until the end of his life.

Dennis had a keen interest in trains and model railroads for all of his life.  He also enjoyed traveling with his family over the years and had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Dennis is survived by his two sons, Dr. Kristophor Canali of Hyattsville, MD, and Mr. Kevin Canali of Dexter, ME, and two grandchildren, Lorenzo Canali and Isla Canali, both of Dexter, ME.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor and remember Dennis’ life by gathering for visiting hours in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham on Wednesday, September 24th from 4-8PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning in St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly St. (Rt. 135), Framingham at 11 o’clock. Burial will follow at St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham.
