Shirley J. Hollis, 89, of Framingham Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 8,2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 31, 1935, in Mason City, Iowa, Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered on family, love, and community.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jayne Acevedo and Jan Szretter; five sons, William Hollis, Henry Hollis,Michael Hollis, Scott Hollis, and Eric Hollis; and four sons-in-law, Christopher Cardona, Junio DeSousa, Bruno Peli and Jose Masso. She was a proud grandmother to 32 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry Hollis; three children, Stephen Szretter, Roy Hollis, and Michele Hollis; two grandchildren Luis Acevedo Jr and Scott Hollis; and two daughters-in-law, Karen Hollis and Tammy McKellick-Hollis.

A proud stay-at-home mother, Shirley poured her heart into raising her children and later helped raise her grandchildren. She loved cooking, watching soap operas, reading the newspaper, and playing the lottery. Most days, she could be found sitting on her porch, watching over her grandchildren and chatting with neighbors. She was known affectionately as “Ma” or “Sugar” to countless friends and extended family.

Shirley had a deep love for the coast of Maine, especially visiting lighthouses, candy shops, and enjoying meals at the Weathervane with Henry. She cherished her annual tradition of attending the Spencer Fair in Spencer, Massachusetts, and stopping at the Redwood in Mendon, Massachusetts after a full day of yard sales. These traditions, big and small, are part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Shirley touched the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, humor, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Shirley’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham on Thursday, Augst 14th from 4-8PM. Her graveside services will be said on Friday morning in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, 180 Winthrop St. Framingham at 10 o’clock.
