Metrowest Medical Center names Betzabet Rivera ADN, RN as the most recent recipient of the DAISY Award. Betsy is a Telemetry Nurse who has worked at Framingham Union Hospital for three years. The DAISY Award is a prestigious recognition given to nurses who go above and beyond in providing extraordinary, compassionate care to patients and their families.
Betsy was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient’s daughter, who wrote, “Betsy has demonstrated an extraordinary level of dedication, treating my father not just as a patient but as a person deserving of dignity, patience and empathy. Her clinical skills are clearly exceptional but what truly sets her apart is the warmth and respect she brings to every interaction.”
The nomination goes on to say Betsy “consistently goes above and beyond ensuring that his needs are not only met but anticipated. It is rare to encounter someone so genuinely committed to the quality of care they provide. Betsy represents the very best of her profession.”
Metrowest Medical Center’s Associate Chief Nursing Officer Melanie Vymlatil, RN says the hospital is lucky to have Betsy on its team. “We talk a lot about the importance of compassion in nursing, and Betsy lives that every day,” says Vymlatil. “Her kindness and dedication make a real difference, and we’re so proud to see her honored in this way.”
The Daisy Award is an international recognition program that was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died after battling an autoimmune disease. The family was so impressed with the care and compassion the staff showed Patrick, they started a foundation to honor nurses who demonstrate clinical excellence in a caring and compassionate manner.
The department and shift of the award winner receives fresh cinnamon rolls to celebrate, as requested by the Barnes family.
