Maureen Ann (Cashman) Read, 90, of Wellesley and formerly Framingham, died Friday morning July 11, 2025, after a period of declining health. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late John & Annie (Drake) Cashman, and the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Philip Read.

Maureen was raised and educated in Framingham and earned her bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College. She dedicated her career to education, teaching 6th grade in both middle school and elementary school settings within the Framingham Public Schools. Throughout her years in the classroom, she touched the lives of countless children with her kindness, patience, and commitment to their development. In retirement, she continued to share her love of learning and history as a docent for the Framingham Historical Society.

Maureen had a sweet spirit and a gentle laugh that could brighten any room. She treasured time with her family above all else – whether it was traveling, sharing Sunday dinners, or cheering on her grandchildren at dance recitals and baseball games. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: relaxing at the beach, tending to her flower garden, perfecting the art of crafting Nantucket baskets by hand, and welcoming friends and family to her home for poolside gatherings.

Maureen is survived by her cherished daughter, Heather Rich of Wellesley; her grandchildren, Katelyn and Philip Rich of Wellesley; her siblings, Nancy Cullen of Port Charlotte, FL, Jack (Marie) Cashman of Hopedale, Patricia Cashman formerly of Londonderry, NH; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and dear friends.

Besides her husband Philip, Maureen was predeceased by her brother, Donald Cashman (Londonderry, NH) and brother-in-law, Joseph Cullen (Framingham).

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Maureen’s life by celebrating her Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, July 26th in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.
