Sister Catherine Theresa Ginty, CSJ, (Sister Dorena), in her 82nd year as a beloved member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Daughter of the late Anthony J. and Margaret T. (McGowan) Ginty and sister of the late Anne G. Cain, Thomas Ginty and Margaret Ginty, CSJ, and aunt of Margaret Callahan. Survived by her loving niece, Nancy Lang and the families of Nancy and Margaret as well as her Sisters in the Congregation. Formerly missioned as a teacher at St. Agnes School, Arlington; Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Brighton; as teacher and director at Aquinas Jr. College; along with serving as Regis College assistant professor. From 1986 to 1994 Sister Catherine served as Area Councilor of the Sisters of St. Joseph Leadership. For a short time she ministered as an education assistant at the Breda Ryan Association in Boston, and then as administrator of St. Agatha School, Milton.
Visiting hours at Holy Family Chapel, Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse, 631 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass and Prayers of Final Commendation at the Motherhouse at 10:15 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, 180 Pond Street, Natick, MA. Arrangements by Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, Framingham.
