John J. Roche, Sr., of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that touched all who knew him. Born on November 30, 1942, in Boston, MA, John was the beloved son of the late William T. Roche, Sr. and Helena R. “Lee” Roche of Buzzards Bay, MA.

John grew up with a strong sense of family, and though he was predeceased by his twin brother, William “Billy” T. Roche, Jr. of Largo, FL, and his brother Francis “Butchie” Roche of Pocasset, MA, he always carried their memories in his heart. He is survived by his loving sister, Cheryl Ducharme, and her husband Patrick Ducharme of Hardwick, VT, as well as his sister-in-law Patricia Roche of Pocasset, MA.

John was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Carol Roche, with whom he shared many beautiful years. John is survived by his son John J. Roche, Jr. and daughter-in-law Dawn Roche of Plymouth, MA; and his daughter Keri Deane and son-in-law Adam Deane of Spring Hill, FL. He was predeceased by his son Timithy Roche and is survived by Timithy’s wife, Rebecca Roche of Wareham, MA. John is survived by his sisters-in-law Janet O’Brien of Salem, MA and Cythia Tolley of  ME.

A proud grandfather, John is survived by his grandchildren: John J. Roche III, Corey Roche, Deanna Roche, Michael Roche, Zachary Deane, Justin Deane, Emily Roche, and Megan Deane. He also leaves behind five beloved great-grandchildren, many adoring nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and great friends.

John worked for many years at Breyers, formerly Sealtest, in Framingham, where he was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for the friendships he cultivated over the years. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union for most of his life. He was a longtime, cherished member of the Framingham Eagles, where his quick wit, generous nature, and storytelling made him a favorite among his peers.

He had a heart as big as his smile—always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or brighten a room with his humor. Whether he was offering help to someone in need, cracking a joke that would make the whole room laugh, or simply spending time with family and friends, John brought warmth and spirit wherever he went. He loved to live life fully—celebrating the good times and helping others through the tough ones.

To know John was to know kindness, loyalty, and the value of a good laugh. He was the kind of friend who became family, and a man who made everyone feel loved and welcomed. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of joy and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held April 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. at McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham, followed by a reception at The Framingham Eagles, located at 55 Park St. in Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in memory of John’s giving spirit. https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/SPageServer/?pagename=agda_jimmyfund_cancer_donation&s_src=AGDABD102824AA&gad_source=1
