John R. Ciampaglia, 68, of Ashland, a longtime resident of Ashland, died Sunday, March 2, 2025.  Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John & Rose (DeMango) Ciampaglia, and the beloved husband of Marie E. (Purpura) Ciampaglia.

John was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He started his career in the auto industry from the bottom up. He did mechanical work, was a lot boy, sales, and worked his way to management. He worked for decades at Mirak Chevrolet in Arlington, followed by years at Mirak Leasing. John spent the last 18 years at Salemi Isuzu in commercial truck sales in Boston.

John was an amazing patriarch to his family. He was kind and generous, often anonymously helping those around him.  He was the very definition of a workaholic and put those passions to good use and a business working together with his son, John.

Besides his wife Marie, John is survived by his son John & his wife Jessica of Medford, his brother, Charles & his wife Frances of Medford, his sister, Theresa Ascolillo & her husband Mike of Tewksbury, his mother in law, Tillie Spinale Purpura of Natick, his sisters in law, Theresa Gately of Holliston, and Joanne Ambrose of Framingham,  and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Thomas, his father in law, Salvatore Purpura, and his brother in law Arthur Ambrose.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember John’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday, March 6th from 4-8PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Cecilia Church, 54 Esty St. Ashland on Friday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.
