Dominic A. Garbarino, age 88, a lifelong resident of Framingham and Dennis, passed away at home on Thursday February 13, 2025.

Dominic was married to the love of his life, the late Maureen A. (Murphy) Garbarino for 52 years.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Dominic F. and Eva (Gnecco) Garbarino. He was a graduate and vice president of Framingham High School class of 1955 where he was a talented athlete playing both basketball and baseball. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1960. Dominic was the owner of Garbarino’s Package Store in Framingham from 1959 until he sold it in 2012. He was a past president and longtime member of the Christopher Columbus Club.

His loving and generous heart along with his sense of humor made him the best Dad. He gave his family the most amazing life. There was no greater example of his love and devotion than the incredible care he took of his wife Maureen during her 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was most proud of his role as Grampy to his 11 grandchildren. He loved going to their games and enjoyed every summer with them at the family cottage. Dominic, also known as Donny, Big Don, Reno, Didi and Garbo had a way about him that just drew people in. He was blessed with lifelong friends from Framingham, neighbors from Warren Road, The Magnificent 7 and the Bayview Beach Bums.

He will be remembered most by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Dominic is survived by his four adoring children Nicole Frotten and husband Michael of Auburn, Dominic F. Garbarino of Shrewsbury, Lynne Burkhardt and husband Timothy of Sutton and Kate MacCausland and husband Scott of Shrewsbury; his 11 cherished grandchildren: Ashley (Frotten) Azzalina and her husband Michael, Jake and Alyssa Frotten, Dominic, Grace and Maggie Garbarino, Colin and Jack Burkhardt, and Riley, Kelly and Natalie MacCausland; his nieces: Kathy, Karen & Jane “the Sweeney girls,” his Murphy in laws, and his Garbarino and his Gnecco cousins.
