Cecilia M. (Plona) Murphy, a lifelong resident of Framingham died Sunday February 9, 2025 after a long struggle with dementia. The oldest daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Jarkewicz) Plona, she was the beloved wife of the late James D. Murphy.
Cecilia was a 1946 graduate of Framingham High School. After graduation, she attended secretarial school in Boston and went on to work in the Framingham town offices. In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim. Cecilia devoted her life to raising their nine children. Along with her strong Catholic faith, her husband and children were her entire life. She was a kind and caring friend to all who knew her.
Cecilia is survived by her children David and his wife Marsha, Paul and his wife Robin, Edward, Patricia Robidoux and her husband Gregory, Kevin and his wife Kelley, Stephen and his wife Jean, Eileen Cate and her husband Jeffrey, Jim and his wife Susan and Sharon Ghio and her husband David along with her cherished sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and sisters Lucy Karp and Janet Sargood.
Family and friends will honor and remember Cecilia’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Sunday, February 16th from 2-5PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning in St. George Church, 74 School St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.
