John Anthony Boczenowski Jr., age 82, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Saturday, January 25, 2025. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of John & Mary Boczenowski and was the husband of 42 years to the late Patricia L. Boczenowski.
Mr. Boczenowski worked for the Smithsonian Institute for many years as an engineer, working on such projects as Skylab, the first US Space Station, and multiple space telescopes.
John grew up in Cambridge and Boston and was an accomplished accordion player in his youth. He went to Northeastern University, putting himself through school on the work study program and playing first base for the school’s baseball team. He was an avid Boston Sports fan and loved watching and debating the merits and talents of whatever team he happened to be watching.
He loved travelling to Hilton Head South Carolina, where he spent several months out of the year. He made friends easily and kept up those friendships throughout the years, still even meeting with friends from school into his 80’s.
He is survived by his three sons, Derek Boczenowski of Milford, David Boczenowski and his husband, Ken Weatherup, of New Orleans, LA, and Brian Boczenowski of Framingham. He is also survived by three nephews, Brett, Matthew and Kirk Boczenowski.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember John’s life by gathering for visiting hours on Sunday, February 2nd in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. Framingham from 2-5PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd. Framingham on Monday Morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
