City of Framingham Seeks Community Input on Proposed Splash Pad at Cushing Memorial Park
FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham will hold a community meeting on January 30, to solicit input for the design and construction of a splash pad at Cushing Memorial Park.
The Framingham Parks and Recreation staff will facilitate a meeting on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place on the second floor of Loring Arena, situated at 165 Fountain Street.
During the meeting, City staff will be soliciting feedback from Framingham residents regarding their preferences for a splash pad at Cushing Memorial Park.
A splash pad at the popular City Park has become a priority for Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, following a meeting with Framingham resident and mother, Ashley Daniel Ramos.
“A municipal splash pad is an exciting addition to any community, offering families a refreshing place to cool off and play during the warm months. It provides a safe, zero-depth water play environment where children can enjoy interactive water features without the risks associated with deeper pools,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky.
Splash pads are often designed with colorful and engaging elements such as fountains, sprayers, and water jets, which can be activated by motion sensors, adding an element of surprise and delight for young visitors. These spaces are not only fun but also promote social interaction, physical activity, and outdoor play, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
Meeting participants will have the opportunity to hear from the City’s consultants CHA Consulting and then share their ideas on features such as water play elements, accessibility options, and safety measures.
The goal is to create a space that is fun, inclusive, and safe for all children and families to enjoy.
Community members are encouraged to bring their unique perspectives and suggestions to help shape a vibrant and welcoming recreational area that reflects the diverse needs and desires of Framingham’s residents.
Child care services will be offered. To secure a spot, please send an email to Parks.Recreation@framinghamma.gov by Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
