Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Fair) Casella, affectionately known as Betty, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the age of 93, at Bethany Healthcare in Framingham, where she spent her final days.

Born on October 19, 1931, to Frank and Grace (Chickering) Fair, Betty was a lifelong resident of Framingham. As a young girl, her family owned and operated the icehouse on Waushakum lake (Fair Ice Company), which later became Fair Oil. Betty’s childhood was filled with fond memories of time spent by the water, a place that would continue to hold special meaning throughout her life. She graduated from Framingham High School and went on to work for the telephone company, dedicating herself to connecting people until her retirement in 1990.

Betty was known for her sharp wit, love of reading, and the many peaceful hours she spent by the pool, often with a good book in hand. The pool was her sanctuary—a place to relax and savor life’s simple pleasures with her family and friends. In addition to her passion for reading, Betty enjoyed bowling, watching classic films (particularly those starring Bette Davis), and spending time with her son’s beloved dog, Louie.

A proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Betty forged lasting friendships with fellow members and remained active in the organization throughout her life. During her time at Bethany Healthcare, she brought joy to those around her, forming meaningful connections with both residents and staff.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Karen, and her husband Ron August; her son, William, and his wife Christine Casella; her cherished grandson, Cameron Casella; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Casella, and her brothers, Ralph, Richard, and John Fair.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Bethany Healthcare for their compassionate care and support.

Betty’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of her presence.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Betty’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Sunday January 5th from 1-4PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning in St. Stephen Church, 221 Concord St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Old Town Cemetery, Sudbury.
