Phyllis A. (Hodgdon) Doran

Phyllis A. (Hodgdon) Doran, 85, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Monday, December 9, 2024 after a period of declining health. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Royal G. & Gratia I. (Stowell) Hodgdon, and the beloved wife of 66 years to Brendan S. Doran.

A 1957 graduate of Framingham High School, Phyllis was the very definition of kindness.  She was a homemaker who loved to bake, sew, embroider, and knit. She spent time giving to others through the prayer shawl ministry at St. George Parish and collecting warm clothing for the homeless. She was a square dancer with the Fairs and Squares in Framingham, and loved to play cards, enjoyed winter trips to Florida. She participated in the Framingham Heart Study, and was a devout catholic who enjoyed her pilgrimages to Medjugorje and an audience with the Pope at the Vatican.

Family time was time well spent for Phyllis. She hosted many Thanksgiving and other  parties. She was truly loved by everyone she met and will always be remembered as one of the nicest people in the world..

Besides her husband Brendan, Phyllis is survived by her children, Teresa Doran oof Framingham and Matthew Doran & his wife Monica of Brentwood, CA, her granddaughter, Eleanor Giovannucci & her husband Daniel of Framingham, her great granddaughter, Cordelia Giovannucci, her sister, Barbara Fenner of Enfield, CT, nieces and nephews and the many others that called her grandma.

Family and friends will honor and remember Phyllis; life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday December 12th from 4-7pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in St. George Church, 74 School St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.
