Lorraine A. (Small) Jones, 84, a longtime resident of Framingham, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Thursday, November 7, 2024, after a period of declining health. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Leo R. & Irene A. (Dupuis) Small, and the beloved wife of Thomas H. Jones, III for 63 years.
Lorraine was raised and educated in Worcester and was a graduate of North High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from Worcester City Hospital Nursing School in 1961. She spent the first two years of her career at Worcester City Hospital as the Assistant Head Nurse and enjoyed a 45 year career at Framingham Union Hospital nursing primarily in the Telemetry Department.
Lorraine met the love of her life Tom at White City Park at the age of 16. Tom was 19, and knew that day he would marry Lorraine, and they married in October of 1961, settling in Framingham that same year where they would raise their family. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of both St. Anselm Parish in Sudbury, and St. George Parish in Saxonville. Lorraine had a green thumb and was a member of the Pinefield Garden Club for many years.
The beach always held a special place in Lorraine’s heart and particularly the beaches of Aruba. She loved to sail, play a round of golf, travel and curl up with a good book. Downhill skiing, boating, baking, camping, fishing, dancing, cruising, watching the Red Sox, attending all of her grandson’s sporting events, girl’s trips and pool parties with girlfriends, and cruising in Tom’s convertibles all brought a smile to Lorraine’s face.
Family came first for Lorraine, her beloved husband, Tom, her children, Sharon A. Martinis of Bellingham, Mark T. Jones & his wife Mary of Framingham, and Thomas P. Jones of Natick, her grandson, Stephen T. Martinis of Bellingham, her sister in law Janet M. Small of NY, and many nieces and nephews survive her.
Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, Robert R. Small.
Family and friends will honor and remember Lorraine’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday, November 14th from 3-7PM.
