They say that if you make a point to smile every day, you will see an enormous difference in your life. Well, Michael J. Arroyo’s vibrant, infectious smile made a big difference in the lives of his tight-knit family and his friends around the world.
Michael was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey to his parents Oscar R. & Sharon A. (Bellosi) Arroyo. Growing up in Framingham, Massachusetts, he was a boy scout for many years and loved to play soccer and climb trees. When he was not outside, Legos, Transformers, and video games helped the day go by. Yearly trips to Costa Rica were some of his favorite memories of his childhood.
Michael was a problem solver and had an innate ability to “think outside the box.” Inquisitive by nature, he was handy with motors and other gadgets, he spent a lot of time taking things apart and putting them back together. Michael was the keeper of random facts from history to science and anything in between and loved debating any issue you proposed.
Michael was very artistic and drew with phenomenal details a skill he passed on to his daughters. This translated nicely into his love of music. He played both the guitar and piano extremely well. He spent endless hours in his childhood basement with friends banging out Metallica and Pink Floyd much to the disdain of the neighbors.
Michael was a graduate of Westfield State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in music. Very different from his first job slinging coffee and doughnuts at Honey Dew Donuts, Michael enjoyed a 20-year career with Fidelity and was truly passionate about the projects he developed with them. Including traveling to India for several months on their behalf training employees.
Sadly, Michael passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. In his last selfless act, he was able to save the lives of four others through organ donation. His heart beats on!
Michael is survived by his loving family, his precious daughters, Katie 11, and Isabel 9, his parents, Oscar and Sharon of Framingham, his brother Ramon & his wife Sebria of Florida, his sister, Roxana Copeland & her husband Bob of Framingham, his sister Angela of Framinghamn, his niece Elena, his nephews, Bobby and Scotty Copeland, his former spouse, JoEllen Hayes, his dog Lucy, and cat Loki.
Family and friends will honor and remember Michael’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Wednesday, October 23rd from 4-7pm. Interment will be private.
