Rodolfo “Rudy” F. Caballero born February 5, 1941, in Habana, Cuba. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Ofelia Caballero, daughters Vivian Caballero of Ashland, MA, Veronica (Caballero) Viveiros and son- in- law John Viveiros of Framingham, MA, and Ofelia Collins and son-in-law Jon Collins of Sudbury, MA. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren Ryan, Jack, Gabriella, and Allie. He was the son of the late Manuel and Mercedes Caballero of New Jersey, and is survived by his siblings, Manuel Caballero, Jr. of New Jersey, Mercedes Hiatt of Florida, and Gloriosa Caballero of New York and many nieces and nephews.
Rudy attended the Instituto de La Habana, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. He emigrated from Cuba in 1969 with his family, in search of freedom and to build a better life. He had a strong work ethic, and worked for Goya Foods for more than 30 years, first as a salesman and eventually becoming New England Regional Manager. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, and he proudly attended every soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, and lacrosse game, dance recitals, music recitals and generally any event involving his grandchildren.
He loved fishing, traveling, trips to the ocean, music, dancing, good food, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed forever and loved for always.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 14, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.
