James Jeffrey Patrick McLaughlin Fair, 77, of So. Dennis and formerly Framingham, died Saturday August 31, 2024 after a battle with esophageal cancer. Born January 30, 1947 in Newton,  he was the son of the late James “Jay” and Christine (McLaughlin) Fair.

Jeff was raised and educated in Framingham, and graduated from Framingham North High School. He received his undergraduate degree in education from Fitchburg State University and his Masters equivalency.

Jeff taught elementary school for 36 years. The majority of that time was spent in the Framingham school system while living with his wife Dolores and two sons in Milford. Jeff was a fantastic teacher who positively impacted countless children in the town of Framingham some of whom were still in contact with him.

Upon retirement Jeff spent his winters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and his springs and summers in South Dennis on his beloved Cape Cod. Jeff was at his happiest walking West Dennis Beach and visiting the antique shops and wonderful seafood restaurants from Hyannis to Provincetown.

Jeff is survived by his two sons Kevin Michael Fair & his wife Kimberly of Georgetown and his children, Olivia, Brody, and Ava, and Brian James Fair & his wife Abigail of Kirkwood, Missouri and his children Arabella and Judah. He is also survived by his brothers Robert Fair & his life partner Betty King of Framingham, and Thomas Fair & his wife Peggy of Sandwich.

He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Jeff loved to travel the world. He was the perfect “travel agent” and loved nothing more than planning these wild adventures whether it was skiing in Quebec City, driving his family across country in a station wagon and pop trailer, or spending time in Italy visiting his wife Dolores’ family and pretending to know how to speak Italian. He also planned and enjoyed many trips with his Milford neighbors.

At Jeff’s request, his family will honor him with private funeral services. A celebration of his life will be held on the Cape at a later date.
