Nicola Anthony Costa, a longtime resident of Framingham and a member of St. George’s Catholic Church passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024 at the age of 90. Born in Natick, MA he was the son of the late Antonio and Rose Costa, the brother of the late Sam Costa and Mary Wambolt. Nick was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne E. (Carey) Costa whom he shared his life with for over 60 years. Nick was the loving father of 3 children, Rosanne Dooley (James) of Sarasota, Florida, Paul Costa of Framingham and the late Nicole McKenna (Joseph) of Plymouth, MA. Nick was also blessed with 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He leaves behind many wonderful memories shared with all of them over the years.
Nick was raised in the Saxonville area of Framingham. He was a 1951 graduate of Framingham Vocational School. After graduating, Nick served his country in the Army while stationed in Anchorage, Alaska as a Generator Specialist. He continued his education under an apprenticeship and became a Tool and Dye Maker. Throughout the years he advanced in his trade and finished as a General Foreman of Raytheon, retiring in 1999. He was very proud of his contribution to the work done on the missiles program there.
Nick was also a champion bowler for the Town of Framingham for many years and enjoyed competing all over the state. He also enjoyed playing on softball leagues over the years and the many friends acquired from both these activities. He left bowling and softball to pursue his love for the game of golf. He shared his passion for golf with many of his grandchildren.
Nick enjoyed the music of the crooners of the Sinatra era and had quite the collection of music from that time period. He often sang these songs himself and will be remembered by many family members and friends for his notable voice while singing and sharing the music he loved so much.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nick’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Tuesday, September 3rd from 4-7pm. His graveside services will be held Wednesday morning in St. Patrick Cemetery, 180 Pond St. Natick at 10 o’clock.
