Stasia Therese (Roszko) Gustowski, a resident of Framingham since 1967, formerly of Worcester and New York, died Monday, July 22, 2024, peacefully in her home at Carmel Terrace Assisted Living, where she has lived since February, 2018. She was 101 years old. She was the wife of Chester J. Gustowski, who died in 2005, after 59 years of marriage. Born and raised in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor (Gajkowska) Roszko.

A graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Worcester in 1941, Stasia was the class Salutatorian, and afterwards attended business school and was a nurse’s aide. She was employed as a legal secretary to a real estate and insurance agent until marriage when her husband’s job as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation took her to New York where she lived in Parkchester in the Bronx, New City and Buffalo until finally returning to Framingham, Massachusetts in 1967.

Stasia was a daily communicant at St. Bridget’s Church, and was an active volunteer at the food pantry there. Stasia enjoyed the St. Bridget’s community where she participated in the
Young at Heart programs. She also was an avid bridge player and talented seamstress, who created beautiful embroidery and cross-stitch pieces. At Carmel Terrace, Stasia assisted with
daily Mass by setting up the altar and being a lector as well as a rosary leader. She also started a small bridge group and happily enjoyed putting together puzzles in the library as a
way of making new acquaintances.

Besides her husband Chet, Stasia was predeceased by her daughter Ann Trotta of Whitman, MA, and leaves her children, Deacon Paul and his wife Marie Gustowski of San Antonio, TX, son-in-law Bob Trotta of Whitman, MA, Claire Shepard of Port Orford, OR, and Carol Mahoney and her husband, Dennis, of Stamford, CT; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by two brothers Raymond and Constantine Roszko, and six sisters, Eleanor (Lambert) Gallagher, Sophia Veleno, Hillary Simone, Sally Harris, Cyrilla Roszko and Therese Abdella.

More than anything else, Stasia leaves behind a contagious smile, a happy disposition and unending hope. Her Catholic faith was her constant purpose and she had a zeal for souls that never waned.
