Josephine (Laferla) Owen, age 90

FRAMINGHAM – Josephine (Laferla) Owen, age 90, a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully Friday, July 12, 2024.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Bernadette (Novella) Laferla.

Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Wilfred P. Owen who died in 1996.

Josephine stayed at home to raise her 5 children. She then worked for several years at Framingham High School as a lunch aide and later became a baker at the Barbieri School until her retirement in the early 2000’s.

She is survived by her children, Wilfred Owen, Jr, Diane Maguire, Denise Owen, Robert Owen and Jennifer Sacchi. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Angela Cummings, Lily Cummings, Justin Buckley and her great grandchild, Sylas Beal; as well as her sister-in-law and best friend, Carol Balboni.

She was the sister of the late Mario Laferla.

The family is grateful for the compassionate healthcare given to Josephine by Susan Wigglesworth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord St. (Rt. 126), Framingham. Burial will follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham.
